Dawn!

I know I've always said I'll never stay in Estonia and I'll go traveling as soon as I can BUT I can be really easily manipulated when it comes to cohesion. As soon as I see couple of Estonian flags or blue light on a crowed of people or everyone singing these beautiful Estonian songs, I will instantly feel untied and the power of our people. They might say Estonians are rude and cold people but if you every happen to attend our song festival you'll see something beautiful. I'll just get shivers from thinking about it. It's something I can't explain because the feeling is just so POWERFUL and amazing. Like no other!!!

To be fair we are the nation that sang themselves free so THIS is just too big for us!!

And in the end Estonia will always be my home, my land, my people!

The saddest thing is that no matter how well you would translate the songs it will never sound as beautiful and the message won't be as clear as it is in Estonian.

But here's a translation for this song:

DAWN
Again it's time to stand up straight
And cast off our shackles,
That everything once created
Could together be born again.

It's Dawn, a majestic blaze
Victory of the Light awakes the land
Free is the horizon, and the first ray
Will soon touch the land

A call, to break down it all
That we could freely breath again
See, the ice has broken,
Let's join our hands, our forces

With wisdom, with collective wisdom
With collective might, we can do it all
Ahead is the only road, the road of freedom
There can be no other

The Might, the Power of Light
The people of Freedom, let's go together
With a joyful cry on our lips
See, the giant has freed himself

Faith leads us onward,
And a heavenly beam accompanies us
So there's only one step to Victory
A short, short step..

It's the land, our sacred fatherland
That now will be free
The song, our song of Victory will continue,
And soon you'll see Estonia Free

Like we say: ''Small by number, big by spirit!''

Why am I doing this really patriotic blog post? Because we have song and dance festival every 5 years and this year it finally came around again. Sadly I missed it by being here in Australia and just have to watch the 6h long video of it from youtube. ;)

Until next time,
xoxo
